Lynn & Lorraine is a property in upstate New York composed of two cottages. It is a rental, retreat, and experimental arts space designed to welcome artists, writers, and creatives — particularly those who are women, and those who are Black.

I purchased this home in 2020 with the intent to use it as a site-specific, non-traditional art space open to myself and others for the creation and presentation of art projects.

The property is a work in progress. As I consider the physical environment in my art practice, I am also considering how I can use this physical property to create conditions for rest, art making, and wellness.

The Future
Right now, this is a self-funded, self-ran operation. I am open and welcome collaboration or sponsorship from brands and organizations.

As I work to imagine the possibilities for this space, I’d love to bring in others to help or collaborate. I am interested in horticulturalists, gardeners, cultural workers, healers, activists, artists, writer, chefs, and others for whom this space could be useful.

Let Black Women Rest Retreat
A free stay in the Lynn House for Black women, held once a month. This retreat is, very simply, an offer of time and space for one woman to be able to rest in a quiet and natural environment. Given all of the work that Black women do — physically, emotionally, mentally — for themselves and others, I wanted to offer a moment to just be still, a privilege we are not often allowed.

The first round of retreats will be held this fall and are invite only.
To sponsor a retreat, email tlynnfaz@gmail.com.

L&L Artist Residency
A one week stay at the Lynn House for a visual artist or writer. The Lynn House has an in-home studio space. There is also a desk space for writing and small 2D work. The residency is for time and space in a quiet and natural setting to work on existing projects, research, etc. Open to Black and Brown people, women, femmes, non-binary people, and LGBTQ folks.

Exhibition Space
The Lorraine House is currently unfurnished and open to being used as an installation space. The first installation and exhibition will be held in Summer 2023.
